Biography

Teagen Caswell is a 21-year-old female artist, who is inspired by bright colors, imaginative imagery and psychedelic art. Creating paintings that feature different figures some being very ambiguous within the pieces that portray a wide array of emotions. Utilizing vibrant colors as well complementary colors it allows the viewer to interpret the emotions represented in the piece in very different ways depending on the viewer. Representing her own emotions that she’s experienced in the past, Teagen shows how many individuals experience a whirlwind of emotions at the same time. Taking inspiration from her struggles with anxiety and panic attacks, Teagen has represented multiple complex emotions within each of her pieces to show the constant changes in emotions for those who also struggle with similar issues.

When making her paintings she looks for different ways to go about creating the piece. Such as by trying different techniques like acrylic pours, creating the background first then deciding what to make the subject matter or even by using things such as yarn and paint markers in her works. Part of her creativity within the pieces Is in the way she goes about painting. Responding to the piece a few days later and deciding what to paint that day based off of her emotions, creating backgrounds first before knowing the subject matter are a few of the different ways she goes about making her work. She mostly utilizes acrylic paint and paints on canvas panels or stretched canvas, incorporating things such as glitter, modeling paste, paint markers and more into her work.
